The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s mission “is to save lives through the prevention and cure of ovarian cancer and to improve quality of life for survivors and their caregiver.” Each year nearly 22,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. If the cancer is confined to the ovary and is detected early, the five year survival rate is over 90 percent. There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer, so it is imperative that women and their healthcare providers recognize the early signs and stages of ovarian cancer. NOCC’s funding is used to provide education to the public on ovarian cancer, further research, and provide information and support to newly diagnosed patients.
